Shanghai Chinese Restaurant - Wichita: A Delightful Buffet Experience

I visited with my partner. They seated us instantly and sent us to the buffet. There was a great spread of fried foods and the salad bar was stocked. We ate the rib slices, chicken, okra, and enjoyed some excellent coconut cream pie. The quality of the food was amazing and the staff were incredibly friendly! I think every single employee spoke to us and asked us if there was more they could do. We love going here and think it is the best place for a Chinese buffet in Wichita!

Went there for mothers day yesterday and was completely shocked. Place was completely packed busy with people but we didn't even have to wait to be seated. Food was completely full and fresh in the buffet lines. Waitress checked on us often with a big smile. Price was about 47 bucks for two of us with sodas but honestly I think it was money well spent. Great food and great service. Owner came and talked to us at our table and she was very nice. Will return.

Excellent selection with very good flavor. Fresh food is brought out by attentive staff every few minutes keeping the entire buffet full. Great table service and friendly staff. The host managed the dining room and kept people happy through a busy lunch hour. Clean fish tank with nice decor. Plenty of variety for every palate. The chicken wings are very well seasoned. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

I love this Chinese Buffet! The food is hot and fresh. The owner is super cool. It’s is very busy on a Saturday night, so go early. The crowd moves fast though so you won’t wait too lone if you go later.

Ate here on 5/24/25 with my Son, my Grandchildren, my Sons GF and two of her kids. The 7 of us got seated with no wait despite the busy restaurant. We were greeted by waitstaff almost immediately and drinks were brought by promptly. Everything I tried was nice and fresh and very flavorful. Favorites were the Moo Goo Gai Pan, Pepper Steak, Spicy wings (which weren't really spicy at all but certainly were delicious), catfish nuggets and the chicken on a stick! I didn't eat from the salad bar today, but everything looked nice and fresh and the kids loved their selections! Restrooms were nice and clean and well stocked. Honestly one of the better buffet experiences I have had in years. The food quality was far better than the new buffet by the mall. Although Shanghai doesn't have all the choices; what they do they do very well! We all enjoyed and are still full at 630 pm (we got there at noon) Will definitely be back!

If you’re looking for a place that brings back memories of classic Chinese buffets from 2000s era, then this place is worth a visit. While the food itself is just okay for typical Chinese restaurants —nothing too extraordinary— but it’s made up for the atmosphere and the people that truly make the experience special that you don’t get from modern restaurant nowadays. The restaurant has that familiar, slightly retro charm and packed with family outings, kids or casual dinners from different backgrounds after a long day. It’s cozy, the lighting is warm, and there’s something comforting about the hum of conversation , background soft music and clinking of plates. It’s the kind of place where you can take your time and just enjoy the moment. The staff are genuinely friendly, always greeting customers with a smile and making sure you’re comfortable. Overall, if you’re after a five-star culinary experience, this might not be the place. But if you appreciate a nostalgic, laid-back buffet , casual Chinese food , with kind people and a welcoming vibe, it’s definitely worth a visit. I will come back at least once a month.

Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. The restaurant was clean and able to accommodate 7 of us. The staff working were very friendly and attentive; they were my favorite part from our visit! We'll definitely be coming back!
